Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Automobiles & Parts and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.86% or 21.40 points to trade at 770.40 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 1.67% or 7.55 points to end at 460.05 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) was up 1.45% or 112.00 points to 7,852.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 6.02% or 36.80 points to trade at 574.60 in late trade. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) declined 5.72% or 281.00 points to end at 4,630.00 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) shed 3.63% or 390.00 points to 10,355.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1006 to 777 and 492 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.92% or 38.45 to $2,038.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.16% or 0.13 to hit $80.29 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.42 to trade at $84.51 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.68% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 101.30.
